Tamarind Juice
To cool yourself down
This refreshing beverage, tamarind juice, is still a classic of tropical countries. Preparing it can be quite tedious, but it will inevitably bring back childhood memories, or make you crave trips to sunny destinations
In this recipe, we use sweet tamarinds from Thailand that you can easily find in exotic groceries, and which are the best way to get a delicious juice without additional sugar. On the other hand, this variety of tamarind isn’t sour, and if you appreciate sour taste all you’ve got to do is add a dash of lime juice in your drink, and this is it !
What you need :
450 gr sweet tamarinds
1,5 L water
1 lime
How to prepare tamarind juice :
Remove the hard shell and soak the fruits straight in your 1,5 L cold water called for. Soak for a few hours up to overnight, at room temperature.
Shred the pulp in the water, while removing carefully the seeds and filaments. Strain your preparation with a fine strainer one or two times, with a spoon, to remove any residu of barks and fibers. Blend the pulp and the water for 2 full minutes, then fridge the juice.
Serve with ice cubes and slices of lime. Enjoy the moment.
