Lately, the submission package of Guadeloupe National Park as been unanimously approved by EUROPARC. This organisation is actually the largest European Network for Protected Areas, which are nationally recognised their valuable local heritage and landscapes, but also for their fragility. Obtaining this European Charter label of sustainable tourism rewards the Park and its parters (governmental or not) for they carry out eco-friendly actions. So it motivates all Guadeloupean islands to keep and enhance their sustainable management of leisure activities.
This certification, valid for 5 years, also aims at raising public awareness regarding protection of natural areas. Then, it should stimulate tourism workers to invest themselves more in patrimony preservation. On a broader scale, it’s an outstanding distinction that allows Guadeloupe to collaborate with other European regional parks areas, and to work closely with other protected areas in the Caribbean.
